As a photographer, I’m always appreciating the work and rise of talented and driven individuals paving the way for their own style in the photography industry. Tommy Ton is someone who I’ve followed and read numerous interviews about. I was happy when I saw the news that he was commissioned to shoot Lane Crawford’s ad campaign, and then go on to shoot editorials for Vogue Nippon, I can’t help but be excited for his future.
When Denise told me that Tommy was going to be visiting Hong Kong for the launch of his collaboration with Club Monaco, I couldn’t help but fangirl out - yes, I instagrammed a photo of us together.
Tommy designed a minimalist yet functional backpack and messenger bag, making up the capsule collection being released at private events featuring galleries of his work (including photos of Tina and Nico) in Club Monaco stores across the world. Tommy was in Beijing the day before the event in Hong Kong, and then he was jetting off to Seoul the following day! He said he barely had time to shop, but hopefully he’ll be able to make it back to Hong Kong and have a chance to enjoy the city!
Thanks to Elaine and the ImagineX Group for having us!
